The Importance of Play

As we get older there are few, far in between times where we remember to play. We get serious, and very focused. We forget our inner child. We forget what it was like to play, to loose all inhibition, to loose our mind. On Friday's we used to rush home from school, eat pizza, and watch TGIF T.V. shows. We now cram into cars and public transportation; rushing about trying to find the thing that we "need" to do.
In Ayruveda, the sister science to Yoga winter is also known as Kapha season. Cold, wet, sticky, dense- all Kapha qualities. In winter this may show up for you in that feeling, stuck/cold/dense. I invite you on Friday's (and always) to remember your inner child, to play, laugh, be silly. If people stare, let them- it is their inner child trying to look out through Their eyes, in wonder that you let Your inner child out to play. Invite them along for the fun! Laughter, an amazingly lightening action, breathes air into you and busts Kapha energy. Be creative, challenge yourself- look for the magic. Share your magic with others.
